Mikowai Ashwill

Pianist Mikowai Ashwill was born in California. He began his musical studies at age nine and is currently in his second year at Northwestern University studying under professor Alan Chow. In 2015 Mikowai won awards in the Evanston Music Club Scholarship Competition and MTNA Illinois competition. Along with these awards, he has also been a prize winner in the National Chopin Foundation Scholarship 2012 and 2012 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition among others. Mikowai has performed at many major venues including; Millenium Park, Preston Bradley Hall, along with being featured on Chicago’s classical radio station 98.7 WFMT.

Mikowai participated in multiple music festivals including the Banff International Masterclasses 2015, Amalfi Coast International Music Festival in Italy 2014 as a part of the Young Artists Concert Series, the Orford Arts Centre Academy 2014, Chicago Duo Piano Festival, and the 2013 Colburn Young Artists Piano Festival.
