Description
Have you noticed red spots, blisters, or tiny crystals on your Fiddle Leaf Fig and are panicking?! Don’t worry too much yet, it is likely edema. Edema happens when you, causing cells to burst. The good news? Edema isn't contagious! It won't spread to your other plants. 🌿 Why it happens: • Overwatering: I water mine every 10-14 days, the like to dry out in between! • Poor Drainage: Soggy or dense oil is a big no-no for Fiddle Leaf Figs. Go for a chunky mix. • High Humidity: While they like some humidity, excessive humidity combined with poor airflow can contribute to edema. 🌿 How to help your Fiddle Leaf Fig: • Boost Airflow: Ensure there is good ventilation, open a window. • Put down the watering can: Let the soil dry out between waterings. • Bright Light: Fiddle Leaf Figs thrive in bright light. This helps them process water effectively. • Fall/Winter Watering: Reduce watering as your plants growth slows down in the cooler months. 🌿 Can it be reversed? Most of the time, yes. Your leaf should grow out and turn a lovely green, BUT if you have leaf drop it might not bounce back. You may be dealing with root rot as well as edema – best to repot ASAP. . . . . #fiddleleaffig #fiddleleaffigcare #plantcare #planttips #edema #planthealth #houseplants #gardening #plantlover #indoorplants #plantproblems #planteducation #greenthumb #urbanjungle #plantparent #learnaboutplants #plantsofinstagram #gardeningtips #flf
